Completing this router research assignment was a practical way to connect technical knowledge with business decision-making. At first, the assignment seemed straightforward because it only required researching available routers and creating a presentation. However, once the work began, it became clear that choosing the right devices for a company involves much more than simply finding popular models online. It required comparing several alternatives, understanding manufacturer specifications, looking at seller pricing, and thinking about which options would make the most sense for a business environment.

One of the most important parts of this assignment was learning how to evaluate routers from both a technical and professional perspective. It was not enough to list devices and prices. Each router had to be examined based on the manufacturer, model, seller, cost, and specifications. This meant paying attention to details such as speed, wireless standards, port options, security features, management tools, and the type of business each router would best support. Some devices were better suited for small offices, while others appeared designed for growing organizations with heavier network demands. Comparing those differences helped show how networking hardware choices should align with business needs and budget.

Another useful part of the assignment was organizing the information into a presentation for the owner of a company. That changed the focus from simply gathering facts to communicating them clearly and professionally. The presentation had to be structured in a way that a business owner could understand, which meant keeping the information concise, relevant, and easy to compare. This was a good reminder that in IT and cybersecurity, technical professionals often have to explain complex information to decision-makers who may not have a deep technical background.
